Once your dental implant is placed and healed, it needs to be completed with an abutment and crown to provide function to your mouth. At Thousand Oaks Family Dentistry, Dr. Kari Ann Hong uses years of experience to finish your implant in the safest and most esthetically pleasing way possible.
The part that connects the implant to the crown is called the abutment. On one end it is threaded to fit inside the implant and on the other it is shaped to have a crown cemented to it. At our office, we use custom abutments to compensate for uneven gum height, tooth spacing and overall better esthetics. The final crown that we place on the abutment is identical to one we would place on a natural tooth.
